Our vision

IFDO envisions a world where digital innovation and global collaboration make cancer care — across prevention, detection, treatment and palliation — accessible, equitable and impactful for all. By bringing together science, technology and society, and harnessing AI, digital transformation and global collaboration, we strive to close care gaps and deliver equitable, dignified, data-driven oncology solutions worldwide.

Our mission

Advancing and integrating digital innovations to transform cancer care across every stage around the world — from prevention and screening to survivorship. This includes fostering the use of AI, real-world data analytics and telehealth to make oncology more data-driven, patient-centred and precise.

Why we exist

From scientific progress to working solutions

Despite decades of scientific progress, cancer care remains fragmented and out of reach for too many people, particularly in developing countries. IFDO exists at this inflection point to connect science, technology and society, and to turn the possibilities of AI and digital health into real, working solutions across the full cancer care continuum.

Our six pillars

Who we bring together to change cancer care

  1. Oncology Workforce

Engaging the full spectrum of cancer care providers: clinicians, nurses, scientists, technologists, counsellors and allied specialists.

  2. Primary & Secondary Care

Equipping frontline physicians with tools and training for timely screening and referrals.

  3. Community Engagement

Partnering with NGOs and grassroots organisations to drive public awareness on prevention, lifestyle and early detection.

  4. Policy & Governance

Working with governments, policymakers and health economists to shape data-driven, inclusive cancer care strategy.

  5. Innovation & Industry

Partnering with start-ups, research hubs and entrepreneurs to co-develop scalable, cost-effective digital oncology solutions.

  6. Scientific & Professional Bodies

Aligning with national and international associations to promote standards, translational research and knowledge exchange.

How we work

Working Groups: the engine of IFDO

Working Groups are the foundational building block of IFDO — the engine that turns our vision into execution. Each Working Group brings together clinicians, technologists, researchers, industry leaders and policymakers around a focused charter, with a light governance model (typically two co-leads) that keeps things collaborative and grassroots rather than top-down.

We see IFDO’s own role primarily as a catalyst: connecting the right people, institutions and resources so that good ideas actually get built.
