Working Groups are how IFDO gets things done. If you have a focused idea for advancing digital oncology and want to bring people together around it, here’s how to start:
Seven steps to a new Working Group
Define your charter
Write one paragraph on the specific problem or opportunity your Working Group will focus on (e.g. digital pathology, AI validation, data standardisation).
Set a one-year vision and a six-month deliverable
Keep both concrete - a paper, a pilot, a guideline, a course - not just “raise awareness”.
Find a co-lead
IFDO Working Groups run on a two-co-lead model, so no single person carries the whole group.
Submit your one-pager to the core team
Include your charter, goals and proposed co-leads.
Recruit members
Working Group members don’t need to already be IFDO members - invited subject-matter experts are welcome and can convert to membership over time.
Set your meeting cadence
Most groups meet monthly; some meet more often in their early, momentum-building phase.
Report back
Periodically present progress to the IFDO core team and the wider membership so the group stays connected to the larger federation.
